Compensatory Measures — Babysitting

Compensatory measures are remedies co-constructed by the parties (or set by an arbiter) to repair a concrete harm arising from a babysitting operation. They are:

  • proportionate to the harm actually suffered;
  • documented (evidence of the harm and of its cause);
  • directly linked to an arbitral decision or a closure agreement — see the Closure / Arbitration Agreement template.

This page is a first, deliberately summary model for the babysitting pilot portal. Each marketplace on WikiDeal maintains its own list of typical compensatory measures.

Typical situations and measures

Situation Aggrieved party Typical compensatory measure
Late arrival of the babysitter — the babysitter arrives late; the client (parent) loses an activity or a half-day of work because they had to stay with the child. Client (parent) Compensation of the loss: refund or lump sum corresponding to the time lost (e.g. the missed half-day of work).
Late return of the parents — the parents come back after the last night public transport; the babysitter must take a taxi home. Babysitter (service provider) Full coverage of the taxi fare by the parents.

How a measure becomes binding

  1. The parties describe the situation and the harm (with evidence).
  2. They agree amicably, or an arbiter decides, using the single Closure / Arbitration Agreement template.
  3. The party at fault ratifies the agreement or decision, which closes the operation in full and final settlement.
